A Look Back at 2006 Resolutions
I made 7 New Year's Resolutions in 2006. Here's how I fared:
- Turn 30. Check.
- Pay off the Jetta. Check.
- Invest in the Stock Market. At the beginning of the year I invested 10% of my earnings into a special Yahoo! stock program. Those of you who have been watching the market will know that YHOO stock went down something like 40% in 2006. So much for that idea! So I pulled all my money out of the market and instead invested in a prime piece of real estate approximately 7 blocks from the Pacific Ocean.
- Lose less than $500 on the 4th Street Poker Tour. Check! This year I spent $1030 on 4SPT entries and made $1215 in winnings. Yep, that's right - I'm in the black! Up a total of $185 for the year. Who needs the stock market when you can make that kind of scrilla playing poker?
- Make at least 1 friend at work. Wow - what a sadly pathetic goal! JennChantal's not used to not being popular...so this was a very hard goal to swallow. Thankfully, the stars have aligned and all's right in the world as I'm now very fortunate to have several friends at work. Not only do they help to make the day go by faster but standouts like Jesse and Roel help to increase the liklihood of getting a good quote of the day.
- Do something even remotely athletic at least twice a week. The first half of the year I was a complete failure in this regard. But in September a little miracle by the name of Acey came into my life and forced me to venture into the great outdoors at least twice a day. Of course, while I might be out for over an hour with her, I'm usually just standing idly by, watching her exercise her little heart out at the dog park...exercise by osmosis?
- Win a 4SPT game. Who needs to win one game when you can win two? Yes, 2006 was a good year for the First Lady.
